Chef Michael Blum offers quick and easy recipes to make this year's Valentine's Day a memorable one, with recipes like this toasted almond apple pie. Chef Blum just opened a new restaurant in downtown Hollywood, The Tipsy Boar.

Toasted Almond Apple Pie

Ingredients:

1 Sheet Puff Pastry

5 apples (Granny Smith or Golden Delicious)

4 tablespoons cinnamon

4 tablespoons sugar

2 cups almonds, sliced

1 egg

2 tablespoons cornstarch

Ice cream

Directions:

1. Slice apples. Mix with cinnamon and sugar and bake for 20 minutes, or until soft. Let cool 20 minutes.

2. Place almonds in bowl. Mix with cinnamon sugar and egg. Mix well.

3. Lay out puff pastry dough; top with almond mixture. Pull up sides of dough, lay almonds on top, wrap with additional dough, press to make round. Sprinkle more sugar and bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.

4. Top with your favorite ice cream.
