Suspect In Brinks Guard Shooting Remains In Hospital
Reward For Info On Other Suspects Increases To $100,000
The FBI has been in contact with a person of interest in the shooting of an armored truck guard outside a Miramar bank on Friday, and a suspect who was arrested in the crime remained in the hospital Monday.
Investigators said they believe four people were involved in the ambush and shooting of 48-year-old Alejandro Nodarse Arencibia. Arencibia, a Brinks security guard, was shot outside a Bank of America at 7950 Miramar Parkway.
Police said the men who shot Arencibia grabbed some cash and took off, but they crashed into a Dumpster a short time later.
One suspect, Nathaniel Moss, was arrested, but police believe three others got away.
Moss was hospitalized after his arrest. When taken into custody, blood was visible on his shirt. He was injured during a run-in with a police dog, investigators said.
Moss remained in the hospital Monday. The FBI said he faces charges of conspiracy, robbery, use of a firearm during a crime of violence and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime that resulted in the death of a person.
On Sunday, the FBI said it was searching for 37-year-old Terrance Brown and two others, who are considered armed and dangerous. The FBI said Monday that investigators have been in contact with Brown, who has not been arrested but whom is still considered a person of interest.
The FBI also announced an increased reward of $100,000 for information leading to arrests.
Investigators said they have recovered all of the stolen money.
Also on Sunday, loved ones gathered at Vista Funeral Home in Miami Lakes for Arencibia's funeral.
