Sweetwater Police Officer Bryan Marrero, 22, dies in motorcycle crash

SWEETWATER, Fla. -

A 22-year-old Sweetwater police officer died in a motorcycle accident on I-75, according to city officials.

Officer Bryan Marrero died after an accident on the southbound lanes of I-75 between Miami Gardens and the Northwest 138th Street exit, shortly after 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Officials said Officer Marrero's motorcycle hit a guard rail and ejected him into the air. Wind condition may have played a part in the accident.

Officer Marrero was in his second year as a police officer with the Sweetwater Police Department. He was off-duty and riding a personal motorcycle at the time of the accident.

Marrero was wearing a safety helmet and jacket. FHP is investigating.
