The Broward Sheriff's Office arrested a South Broward High School teacher accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student.
Michael Lunt, 25, turned himself into the Broward Sheriff's Office on Tuesday. He was charged with one count of unlawful sexual activity with certain minors, a second-degree felony.
The incident happened in December. The teenager's mother notified authorities when she noticed a change in her daughter's behavior, according to investigators.
"I'm going to stand here and tell you I hope it's not true because he seems like a nice guy," said Freddie Diaz, Lunt's neighbor.
The Broward County Public Schools police launched an administrative investigation. Lunt will be reassigned away from students while the investigations continue, according to the school district.
Anyone with information about other alleged inappropriate behavior by Lunt can report it to Broward Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit at 954-321-4240.
