US-Syria-Chemical-Weapons-Sites
U.S. military officials say it could take more than 75,000 ground troops to protect chemical warfare sites in Syria if they were at risk of being looted or left unguarded. That's part of an analysis of military options being prepared by Defense officials for the President to consider if requested.
National-Cathedral-Repairs
Repairs to the Washington National Cathedral are expected to top $20 million. The landmark was damaged by an earthquake last August. Fundraising officials say they are $18 million short in donations needed to cover costs of restoration. The Gothic cathedral's three towers and carved pinnacles that decorate them were most affected by the earthquake.
Egypt-Mubarak-Trial
A final verdict and sentencing for deposed Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will come on June 2 according to an attorney for the victims. Mubarak has denied charges of corruption and ordering the deaths of hundreds protesting against his regime. Prosecutors have said they'll seek the death penalty for Mubarak, who was forced out of office in February 2011.
Italy-Cruise-Ship
Italian officials say eight more bodies have been found on the shipwrecked Costa Concordia, bringing the confirmed death toll to 25 with seven people still listed as missing. On January 13 the cruise ship struck rocks off the Italian island of Giglio and turned on its side. The ship's captain remains under house arrest, and authorities say seven other employees are being investigated.
