Trial for rape suspect begins
Andre Miguel Beadle accused of raping two women
The trial for a man suspected of luring two women to his apartment for dates and then raping them there began Tuesday.
Andre Beadle, 36, of Tamarac, is accused of raping two women at his home on July 24 and July 27. He was arrested in Oct. 2011.
The Broward Sheriff's Office said the first attack occurred when a woman who met Beadle at a Fort Lauderdale Publix store where he worked as a security guard agreed to go on a dinner date with him. Police said Beadle picked her up, but then told her he had to go home to change clothes for their date.
BSO said once the woman was in his apartment, Beadle sexually battered her, then drove her home.
Another woman said Beadle invited her and her 3-year-old daughter to his apartment for dinner a few weeks later. Police said Beadle told her they had to eat dinner in the bedroom because it contained the apartment's only furniture.
BSO said Beadle put the woman into a headlock, told her he could snap her neck, claimed he has killed before and said he had no problem doing it again. Police said Beadle raped the woman while her daughter was in the room.
During opening arguments, defense attorneys said the accusers were disappointed after the dates.
Beadle faces six charges, including kidnapping and sexual battery. Each case will be tried separately.
Court resumes Wednesday morning.
