Truck hits, kills bicyclist in Sunrise

SUNRISE, Fla. -

A bicyclist was killed when he was hit by a truck during morning rush hour in Sunrise.

The crash happened at Northwest 136th Avenue and 12th Street about 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said both the driver of the truck and the bicyclist, identified as Anthony McKinny, 49, of Weston, were riding in the northbound lanes when McKinny was hit from behind.

McKinny died at the scene of the crash.

The driver stayed at the scene of the crash. It's unclear if charges will be filled.

The northbound lanes of Northwest 136th Avenue reopened about four hours after the crash.
