MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. -

A Miami-Dade police officer was rushed to the hospital after his patrol car was hit head on by another vehicle.

Detectives say a driver was heading down Southwest 117th Avenue in the wrong direction. The police cruiser was hit head on.

Police say both cars were totaled.

The driver was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The police officer reportedly has non-life threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
