Hospital officials say an Ohio man is being treated for a gunshot wound in Miami after being shot and robbed in Haiti.
Project Medishare spokeswoman Catherine Murphy said Friday that 50-year-old David Bompart of Columbus, Ohio, had a gunshot wound Tuesday when he walked into the organization's critical care hospital in Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince.
Murphy said doctors at Hospital Bernard Mevs Project Medishare performed two surgeries on Bompart before he was airlifted Thursday night to Miami.
Doctors at the Ryder Trauma Center in Miami say Bompart is on a ventilator in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen.
Nicolle Bompart says her husband was shot as he was leaving a bank with money for an orphanage the couple are building in Haiti.
