Vote 2016 FL Poll: Hillary Clinton leads Sen. Rubio & Jeb Bush

Poll: Florida voters overwhelmingly support background checks

FLORIDA – According to a new Quinnipiac University poll, Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has double-digit leads over former Gov. Jeb Bush and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio in an early look at the 2016 presidential race.

Mrs. Clinton leads Jeb Bush 51% to 40% and Sen. Rubio 52% to 41%. Voters also have a more favorable opinion of Clinton compared to Bush and Rubio.

President Obama remains slightly above water in Florida, with a 50% job approval rate, compared to 45% of voters who disapprove.

The Quinnipiac University poll also surveyed Florida voters on gun control topics.

  • 1. 91% of Florida voters support universal background checks, compared to 8% of voters who are against them. 
  • 51% of Florida voters favor stricter statewide gun-control laws compared with 44% who do not.
  • 56% of Floridians support a nationwide ban on the sale of assault weapons, with gun-owners opposed 57%.
  • 53% support a nationwide ban on the sale of high-capacity magazines holding more than 10 rounds, with gun-owners opposed 56%
  • 59% support placing armed police officers in schools;
  • 57% of Floridians believe that owning guns does more to protect people from crime;
  • 60% say allowing people to own assault weapons makes the country more
  • dangerous rather than safer, with gun owners divided 44 - 44%.
  • 44% of Florida voters say  President Obama better reflects their views on guns, while 45% say the National Rifle Association better reflects their views.
  • Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,000 registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percentage points.
