The Miami affiliate of National Public Radio is apologizing for canceling an interview with the author of a book about five Cuban intelligence agents.
WLRN was scheduled to interview Stephen Kimber, the author of "What Lies Across the Water: The Real Story of the Cuban Five" on Tuesday. The book presents a critical view of the arrest and conviction of five Cuban agents on charges of spying on U.S. military installations, exile groups and politicians.
According to The Miami Herald, a WLRN staffer said in an initial email the book was "incendiary."
WLRN General Manager John Labonia said the decision to cancel the interview was made without management's knowledge and contradicts the station's goal to be a round table for discussion.
Kimber will be on WLRN's Florida Roundup Friday.
