A wake will be held Tuesday for a Walmart security guard who was shot and killed by a shoplifter at a store in Margate.

Luis Jhon, 49, a retired New York City Corrections officer and long-time Walmart employee, was killed Friday. According to investigators, he confronted a man who was stealing t-shirts. The shoplifter then shot him. Jhon was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The wake will be held at Kraeer Funeral Home at 1655 University Drive in Coral Springs from 3 to 8 p.m.

The funeral is expected to take place Wednesday.
