Water main project set to improve pressure in Northwest Miami-Dade

Construction will impact traffic through May

MIAMI, Fla. – The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department has begun improvements on a 36-inch water main, which they say will improve pressure for people living in the northwest area of the county.

A news release by the county said the improvements were "essential for the continued service delivery of water to this portion of the County."

The construction work on the water main will also impact traffic in the area. Right now, crews are working on Northwest 87th Avenue between Northwest 170th Street and 186th streets. Detours are in place between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

In February, another phase of the project will begin on Northwest 170th Street between Northwest 87th and 96th avenues.

The project is expected to be completed in May.
