Widow of man hit by cop car hires lawyer
Trucker hit, killed by police cruiser
The widow of a man who died after being hit by a Jacksonville police cruiser Wednesday morning has hired a lawyer.
Alain Martin, 33, of Hialeah, had just gotten out of his tractor-trailer when a Jacksonville patrol car headed to an emergency call hit him.
Martin was taken to a hospital, where he died. The officer driving the cruiser was uninjured.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the officer had his emergency lights on and was responding to a report of a crash with injuries when Martin walked from behind his semi.
Martin is survived by his wife, Cynthia Martin, and their two sons.
Cynthia Martin said she has hired a lawyer.
