FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -

A woman died Tuesday after she was hit by a train, authorities say.

Fort Lauderdale police said the woman was struck while walking along the train tracks near 100 NW 6th Street.

Authorities said the train conductor blew the horn several times to alert the woman, but she didn't move.

The conductor attempted to stop the train but was unable to stop it in time.

The woman was transported the Broward General Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
