HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -

A worker was taken to a hospital in critical condition after being pinned by a large board on a construction site Monday, according to the city of Hollywood.

Raelin Storey, of the city of Hollywood, said the incident happened at 1:10 p.m. as a contractor was preparing to tunnel under the Florida East Coast Railway tracks at McKinley Street for the installation of a 66-inch sewer pipeline.

An employee of Bradshaw Construction Corp. was lying on a board in a hole, pouring concrete, when the board lifted up, pinning him, Storey said.

Construction crews got the 31-year-old worker out, and he was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in critical condition, officials said.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigators were called to the scene.
