Andrew Garcia died in Fourth of July boat crash

23-year-old was an avid boater and enjoyed fishing

MIAMI – Andrew Garcia loved to go fishing. His relatives and friends said he loved being at sea.

Garcia, 23, died Fourth of July. He was steering one of the three boats involved in a fatal crash off Dinner Key Marina.

Garcia was with friends on his way to Monty's Raw Bar restaurant in Coconut Grove when the crash happened about 10:40 p.m.

The impact knocked him overboard. Garcia was from Palmetto Bay. His dad is a retired Miami-Dade fire boat captain.

Family and friends will meet for a memorial at 5 p.m., Thursday, at Old Cutler Presbyterian church, 14401 Old Cutler Road, followed by a gathering at the Deering Estate, 16701 SW 72 Ave.
