MIRAMAR, Fla. - Police continued Tuesday to search for a missing Miramar woman, more than one month after she was last seen.
After spending Monday searching a canal at Southwest 148th Avenue and 48th Court, investigators searching for evidence in the disappearance of 38-year-old Vilet Torrez moved Tuesday to a canal near Miramar Parkway and Red Road.
Police used K-9s trained to detect the odor of decomposing bodies in their search.
Investigators have not yet determined what happened to Torrez, a mother of three who was last seen March 30. Torrez went to dinner with a friend, and police believe she came home after, but sometime later, she disappeared.
Torrez's husband, Cid Torrez, had their three children when his estranged wife was last seen. Police have questioned Cid Torrez, who has insisted he has nothing to do with his wife's disappearance.
Police said they are pretty sure that foul play was involved, and they began searching waterways in the hope that they would find some evidence of what happened.
Cid Torrez has not been charged with any crime. A court gave custody of the couple's children to Vilet Torrez's parents, but a custody hearing is set for May 10.
