Police say intruders armed with gun, machete, pepper spray

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – An armed home invasion in southwest Miami-Dade County has police officers looking for four would-be robbers.

The group broke into a home on Southwest 173rd Terrace near Southwest 112th Avenue, demanding drugs and money.

Miami-Dade police said one man was armed with a gun, another with a machete and a third man with pepper spray. A fourth man was unarmed.

Police said Eduardo Martinez, 20, was inside a shed in the back of the home when he was pistol-whipped and pepper sprayed. That man's father, Luis Santos, heard the commotion, ran out and was then thrown to the floor.

Martinez's mother, Idrania Morales, and 11-year-old brother, Samir Santos, were hiding in the house under the air-conditioning unit during the incident.

Police said the attempted robbers searched the home but left empty-handed.
