Shotgun-wielding man robs Walgreens in Miami

Thief makes off with woman's purse, undisclosed amount of cash

MIAMI – Police are searching for a shotgun-wielding man who robbed a Walgreens in Miami last month.

The robbery was reported just after 11 p.m. July 12 at 3103 Biscayne Blvd.

Miami police Officer Kenia Fallat said the gunman, who was wearing a white mask that covered the lower part of his face, entered the store and demanded all the customers and employees to move to the rear of the building.

A customer left her purse on the counter as she complied with the request.

Police said the thief pointed a shotgun at an employee while instructing the clerk to hand him the money from a cash drawer.

Surveillance video showed the employee opening the register as the robber removed money from an unattended cash register behind the employee.

Police said the man left the store with the money stashed inside the victim's purse that was left on the counter.

The armed robber is described as a white man in his mid-30s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Miami Police Department at 305-603-6370 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
