MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -

Hundreds of art lovers and collectors spent their Wednesday at Art Basel Miami Beach.

"I think what we can do once a year is to deliver an audience that any city in the world would kill to have," said festival director Marc Spiegler.

Among those in attendance Wednesday: Miami Heat owner Micky Arison.

"I'm sure we'll come away with something. We usually do," he said. "Depending on my wife's tastes today, it could be quite a hit."

John Berggruen, an art dealer from San Francisco, said he keeps coming back to Miami Beach for the money.

"It's wonderful for those of us who live here and can partake in it, and it's wonderful for the many visitors that we get here that we're not just the beach and a suntan," added Marvin Ross Friedman.
