FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Stranahan High School band teacher is accused of having sex with an 11th grade student four times.
Hollywood police arrested 33-year-old Martin Brown on Wednesday. He was charged with four counts of sexual assault by a person 24 years of age or older who engages in sexual activity with a person 16 or 17 years of age and one count of contributing to delinquency or dependency of a child.
The student told the Broward County School District Police Department she and Brown, her band teacher, began texting each other between the 10th and 11th grades, according to an arrest affidavit. She often skipped class during the 11th grade to see Brown and they had sexually explicit conversations.
On the weekend of her 17th birthday, Brown picked her up and brought her to his house in Hollywood. The two smoked marijuana and had sex, according to an arrest affidavit.
The student told police she and Brown had sex three more times during the year. They would also kiss during school hours when he called her teacher and pulled her out of class.
Brown was being held in the Broward County Main Jail on $20,500 bond and a judge ordered him to stay away from the school and the student.
