Bandmates create memorial through song for friend killed in crash

Memorial fund benefits high school music program

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Every band has a message to share through their music.

Matt Schnieder, Carl LaManto and Rylan Talerico lost their friend and band member, Steven Hoyos, in a car crash in January. They were only together as a band for one week before Hoyos died, but in that time, they created music that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Now, the music they made together will reflect their message of hope and legacy. Through the tragedy, they are celebrating Hoyos' life.

The group chose to disband shortly after Hoyos' passing, but they're coming together one last time to share the memory of their fallen friend through a memorial fund.

Using a song they recorded together, their goal is to help others explore their love of music -- the same love they said Hoyos spread through everything he did.

Proceeds will help underprivileged students pay their way through the music program at Coral Springs Senior High School.
