Bank opens in Sistrunk Corridor

Bank of America opens branch in historic Fort Lauderdale neighborhood

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Bank of America branch opened Friday in Fort Lauderdale's historic Sistrunk Corridor.

It's the first bank ever in the neighborhood.

People who live there said the Sistrunk Corridor used to be the place for the local African-American community, but deteriorated over the years.

The historic area is now seeing a rebirth as new shops, businesses and a brand new urban league center open.

In September 2012, a Save-A-Lot opened in the Sistrunk Corridor.
