Batchelor Foundation gives $7.5 million to Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science

Grant funds new environmental center and science museum exhibit

MIAMI The Batchelor Foundation gave a $7.5 million grant to the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science that will benefit the science museum in downtown Miami and Florida International University.  

The Wednesday announcement said that $5 million were for FIU. The grant was to fund the construction of the school of environment center at the Biscayne Bay campus, 3000 NE 151st St., in North Miami.

The $2.5 million will be used for a science museum exhibit at Museum Park, 1075 Biscayne Blvd.,that will focus on the history of flight. The 6,000-square-foot exhibit will be called the "Feathers to the Stars Gallery."

More about the foundation: Anne 'Sandy' Batchelor-Robjohns has been leading The Batchelor Foundation, based in Miami Beach, since 2007. Her community involvement includes serving on boards for the University of Miami Rosenstiel School Marine and Atmospheric Science and FIU's Medical School.
