MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. ā€“ Rapper Birdman spoke to a group of about 500 children and teens at New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church in Miami Gardens on Wednesday about ending gun violence.

"My program started after King Carter got killed," Pastor Eric Readon of New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church said, referring to 6-year-old King, who was killed while playing outside his apartment complex earlier this year.

Birdman reminded the group that while his music touches on guns and gun violence, it's done strictly for entertainment purposes, and that he doesn't encourage that kind of behavior in real life.

"He said 'I don't live that life, I just make money off of it,'"Ā Readon said.

Birdman is a supporter of "Enough Is Enough," according to Readon, and seeks to aid the program financially with future endeavors, including a program in the works that would help parents pay their bills and get jobs.

The rapper also plans to make unannounced trip to the group during their weekly meetings, Readon said.

Those who wish to support the program can do through the organization'sĀ Facebook page.Ā
