'Blessing of the Pets' offers high-tech twist

Annual custom held in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi's love for all creatures

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The life and work of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, is celebrated this time of year at churches around the world. As part of the celebration, "Blessing of the Pets" ceremonies are held and pets of all kinds participate.

To receive one, go to https://www.fivepetplace.com/signup/blessing and enter your e-mail address.  The blessing will then be sent on October 4th — the day the Feast of St. Francis is held in his memory.
