Woman's body found at home in Miami

Neighbors say drug users often hang out at home

MIAMI – Homicide detectives are investigating after a body was found at a Miami home Wednesday.

The victim's remains were taken to the medical examiner's office, and a cause of death has not yet been released.

Someone who live in the neighborhood, in the 7500 block of Northeast Miami Court, discovered the body of a woman inside and called 911.

Police said they had to obtain a search warrant before going inside the home, which took hours since a property owner was not readily available.

Neighbors told Local 10 News that it's not unusual to see drug users inside and outside of the property.

"The house has been abandoned for a long, long time," Shelton Alwood said. "It's stuffed with all kinds of debris, grass is high and tires (are) in there. It's an eyesore."

Another neighbor said she heard screams Wednesday of a woman yelling, "help me, help me!" and saw two men walking away from the home.

Police said they are viewing surveillance video at a gas station two blocks north of the neighborhood. It's unclear whether the video shows images of the victim or the suspects.

Police said the victim is a 20-year-old woman who has a lengthy criminal history that included numerous drug and prostitution charges.
