Body found in burned out car in Weston

WESTON, Fla. – A body was found inside a burned out car Monday, east of US 27 and SW 26th Street in Weston.

According to investigators, around 9:30 a.m., a Weston rescue unit was driving down US 27 and saw smoke. When they arrived at SW 26th Street, they found a burning car.

The street is only accessible by US 27. It is a remote road with no businesses or homes nearby.

The car was fully engulfed when units arrived and the Broward Sherffi's Office the car had not been burning that long. Once the fire was put out, they found a body in the trunk.

Investigators say the body is charred and unrecognizable. They are unable to determine whether it is a man or woman. But sources told Local 10's John Turchin the body is that of a black man.

The car is a four-door sedan with Tennessee tags, Local 10's John Turchin reported.
