Miami-Dade homicide detectives are investigating the case.

Police said Pichardo, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, wandered away from the Royal Palm Gardens Apartments off East Mowry Drive and Northeast 12th Avenue on Oct. 24.

She was last seen wearing a white nightgown with green vertical stripes.

Family members told Local 10 News that they were concerned for Pichardo's safety because she was badly in need of her medication, and hadn't taken it for a few days before she was reported missing.

Pichardo's daughter said her mother went to take out the garbage and became disoriented before she disappeared.
