Boil water notice issued in Dania Beach, lifted in Coral Springs

Fecal indicators found in raw water supply

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – A boil water notice has been issued for Dania Beach residents and business owners after fecal indicators were found in the raw water supply for the city.

Meanwhile the water notice issued earlier in Coral Springs has been lifted.

City officials said a well tested positive for E. coli and total coliform. Additional samples will be taken from the contaminated well, as well as the distribution system within 24 hours to determine the extent of the problem.

Residents should drink bottled water or boil water for one minute before using it for cooking or drinking.

The Broward County shool district told Local 10 News that three schools are impacted by the water notice, including two elementary schools and one middle school.

School officials said teachers and staff will pass out bottles of water to students.

Drinking the contaminated water could lead to symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, cramps and headaches.

City officials will issue a release to residents once the water is cleared for use.
