FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The box truck driver involved in a fatal crash on Interstate 95 in February accepted a plea deal Tuesday.

Buenaventura Fernandez was sentenced to a $1,000 fine, 250 hours of community service, and had his license suspended six months. He was charged with careless driving.

In February, Fernandez, 44, crashed a box truck into a cement wall on the westbound State Road 84 ramp to I-95.

Algie Omar Clark, the passenger in the truck, was killed.
