Coast Guard: Boy fell into water, stopped breathing

MIAMI ā€“ The U.S. Coast Guard says an 11-year-old boy was rescued after a jet-ski incident Saturday evening off Monument Island.

The boy reportedly fell into the water and stopped breathing.

An emergency boat crew arrived and performed emergency breathing while taking the boy and his mother to Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, authorities said.

The boy regained consciousness while en route, according to the Coast Guard.

"We were very fortunate to have a unit close to the incident location," said command duty officer Kurt Treemont. "The Coast Guard Station Miami boat crew arrived on scene within five minutes and was able to provide first aid to the victim while transporting him to Mount Sinai hospital in a timely manner."
