Bride plans wedding in 24 hours for sick mom

Connecticut woman walked down the hospital corridor, her stepdad on her arm

A bride in Connecticut threw her wedding together in just 24 hours so her terminally ill mother could attend.

Initially, Aly Femia had planned to marry her childhood sweetheart in September 2015.

But after learning her mother's lung cancer had spread to her brain, Aly and Anthony decided to move things up -- a lot.

She walked down the aisle of the hospital corridor, her stepdad on her arm, on Jan. 29.

"My favorite part of the day was having my mom see me in my wedding dress, wearing a string of her pearls, and seeing her smile," Femia told Buzzfeed. "I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day."

Staff members at Yale-New Haven Hospital helped make the big day possible, donating food, flowers and even a cake.

Femia's father died of cancer 16 years earlier.
