FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -

The Broward Sheriff's Office released the booking photo of Judge Lynn Rosenthal, who was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and was being criticized for alleged preferential treatment.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said she gave her consent for the image to be released to the media Thursday.

Rosenthal's Tuesday arrest comes a few months before she runs for her seat against Franz "Jahra" McLawrence. He told Local 10 News Wednesday that he thought she was getting special treatment.

McLawrence's questions: "Why wasn't there a mug shot? Why was it such a fast turn around from her going to jail until she was released? Why aren't other people in the community afforded the same type of treatment?"

Rosenthal's move to release the mug was likely a response to McLawrence's accusations.

Rosenthal, 56, was arrested Tuesday, after she crashed her BMW sport utility vehicle into a BSO cruiser in the parking lot of the county courthouse.

According to the arrest report, Rosenthal admitted to taking Ambien, a sleep-inducing prescription drug, the night before.

Rosenthal, 56, was appointed to the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida by Gov. Rick Scott in 2012. She previously worked as a federal prosecutor. The election is Aug. 26.
