Broward County elections workers take to beach, encourage people to register to vote

Deadline to register is Aug. 1

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. ā€“ Broward County Supervisor of Elections workers are hitting the beach this summer to appeal to voters.

The weekend Outreach at the Beach began June 25 and will be conducted at various beaches throughout the county until the end of July.

Election staff will wear red shirts with the words "register to vote" written on them as they encourage resident beachgoersĀ to register, update their voter status and to make any necessary changes to their voter records.

The last day to register to vote is Aug. 1.

That deadline also applies for any name changes and changes in party affiliation.

"The bottom line is you can't complain if you didn't give your voice," Pompano Beach resident Ray Flodin said.

Upcoming dates include:

  • Ā Lauderdale By the Sea: July 16-17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Ā Fort Lauderdale:Ā  July 23-24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Hollywood Beach: July 30-31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
