Petty Officer 2nd Class James Suh was killed when the MH-47 helicopter he was aboard crashed in the vicinity of Asadabad, Afghanistan. He died June 28, 2005, during a mission to rescue other American Troops. He was 28.

Suh was born Sung Gap Suh to Korean immigrants in Chicago. He grew up in Deerfield Beach, and while in Deerfield Beach High School he was on the tennis and swimming teams. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1999.

Suh was assigned to the SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team One, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
