BSO deputy helps homeless man to shelter

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – As South Florida prepares for the arrival of Hurricane Matthew, many officials have asked the community to look out for their own neighbors to make sure everyone is safe.

Local 10's Victor Oquendo witnessed one such act of kindness on Wednesday afternoon as he was headed to a story in Deerfield Beach.

As Victor and his crew headed of at Hillsboro Boulevard, they saw a Broward Sheriff's Office deputy walk up to a homeless man sitting on the side of the road.

The deputy took the man by the hand and guided him to his patrol car where he put him inside and drove him to a storm shelter in the area.

Victor said the man looked extremely appreciative of the gesture.
