BSO: Masked man robs USPS carrier

$5K reward offered after USPS carrier robbed

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - A man wearing a mask robbed a United States Postal Service carrier in Pompano Beach on Monday afternoon.

The robbery happened in the 900 block of Northeast 12th Avenue about 3:10 p.m.

The armed robber stole the carrier's key to the truck, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office. The two got into an altercation, and the robber then ran away.

Deputies and K-9 units searched the area for the robber.

The carrier has worked in Pompano Beach for seven years, according to USPS, which is offering $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.

"I think it's horrible," said Lori Shorman. "He's a nice guy, he's a sweetheart."

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.

Deputies originally said the carrier wasn't robbed, but later issued a correction.
