Burglar finds empty cash registers at 2 stores

Broward Sheriff's Office looking for a man who broke into Monster Subs, General Dollar in Oakland Park

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – Police are looking for a man who hurled a chunk of concrete through two shop windows in Oakland Park on June 10 only to find empty cash registers.

Surveillance video showed the man throw a large piece of concrete through the glass door of Monster Subs restaurant at 2172 W. Oakland Park Boulevard. While inside the building, the man checked the cash register but found nothing except for some loose change, police said.

"He doesn't learn his lesson from the first store," said Gina Carter with the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Minutes later, the burglar was captured on camera shattering the glass door of the Dollar General store across the street. Police said he checked the cash registers but found them empty.

"Apparently, this burglar's never had a day job and he doesn't realize money's not left in registers," said Carter.

Anyone with information on the burglaries should contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
