Burglar shot, killed in home invasion

Second burglary runs away

MIAMI – A burglar was shot and killed during a home invasion in northeast Miami-Dade County late Monday.

It happened at an apartment complex called The Monterrey in the 800 block of NE 209th Terrance about 11:05 p.m.

Two men were inside the home when one was shot and killed, say Miami-Dade Police. A second burglar ran away.

Neighbors said they heard about six gunshots.

"I didn't know what to think until I see all the tape and cops around here," said Jerome Irving. "Like any neighborhood, you're going to have little incidents that happen there and it all depends on the people in it."

The 19-year-old man who lives in the apartment wasn't injured.

Crime scene investigators were looking through a silver car parked at the complex Tuesday afternoon. It's believed the car was the getaway vehicle the burglars planned on using.
