FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Broward County Public Schools intends on firing a bus attendant accused of choking a 13-year-old autistic student.

Broward County Public Schools issued a statement Tuesday, saying: Superintendent Runcie is moving forward for the immediate termination of the bus attendant and the bus driver for the incident that occurred in October 2012.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said the incident happened Oct. 9 on a school bus leaving Westglades Middle School in Parkland.

BSO said surveillance video showed Darryl Blue pulling a restraining harness tight against the boy's body and neck.

Blue was charged with felony child abuse. If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison.

Blue had been reassigned to a position away from children pending the outcome of an administrative investigation, officials said.
