Car crashes into Goodwill Superstore in Hollywood

Employee mistook gas pedal for brake, manager says

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A car crashed into a Goodwill Superstore on Monday morning in Hollywood.

The crash was reported shortly after 8 a.m. at the Taft Street store.

A view from Sky 10 showed the car completely inside the store.

The store manager told Local 10 News reporter Sanela Sabovic that an employee mistook the gas pedal for the brake and accidentally accelerated into the store.

She said the store was closed at the time of the crash.

No injuries were reported, although the store and the Nissan Sentra sustained significant damage from the crash.

A property manager told Local 10 News that the vehicle had just been purchased on Friday and the driver did not yet have insurance.

The driver, who is in her early 40s, was cited for failure to use due care.

The store manager expects the store to be open sometime in the afternoon.
