NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A car crashed into a law office in North Miami Beach on Friday morning, leaving a gaping hole in the front of the building.
The crash happened at the Law Office of Bryant Filomeno, 16211 NE 12th Court, about 9:50 a.m.
The driver left a business across the street, then crashed into the law office, said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. It's unclear why she lost control of her car.
"I started crying and I saw I could've been there," said Beatriz Rivero, a secretary at the law office. "I went in the back for a file, so I walked and once I was turning the light on, that's when I heard it. I just turned around and screamed his name (Bryant's) and I saw the car was inside the building."
Carla Rodriguez, whose husband owns the law office, took the morning off to take her children to school. She said the car likely would've hit her if she was at her desk.
No injuries were reported.
A contractor said it would take six weeks to repair the office, which was deemed an unsafe structure. He added that a car hit the same building 15 years ago.
The driver was cited for careless driving.
