FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A car belonging to a missing Fort Lauderdale woman has been found in the New River at Cooley's Landing.
It took divers with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department nearly two hours to put air bags on the 2003 Hyundai Elantra, lift it to the surface and have it towed out of the water.
Lisa Hayden-Gordon, 51, was a piano teacher for 25 years and went by the nickname "Noodles."
She was last seen about 1:30 a.m. Jan. 24 near Revolution Live nightclub, 100 SW Third Ave. Her family claims she suffers from bipolar disorder.
Police confirmed a body was found inside the car Friday, but did not specify where the body was located inside of the car or whether it was Gordon's body that was found.
Police said a company hired by Gordon's family used sonar equipment to locate the car and then called police.
"They are civilians that actually own equipment, and they have been searching the waterways since she went missing on the 24th," Detective Tracy Figone said.
The car was taken to the police department, where it will be inspected by detectives.
