A man died early Tuesday morning when he suffered cardiac arrest while driving and crashed his truck into a Miami home.
Miami police said at 5:24 a.m. Tuesday, 45-year-old Julio C. Gomez was making a U-Turn out of Dolphin Fisheries along NW 54th Street when he apparently suffered a massive heart attack.
Gomez's truck crashed through a fence and finally came to a stop after hitting a parked car and slamming into the rear of a home at 1735 NW 53rd Street, according to police.
Moments after the crash, when police and rescue arrived, authorities noticed the truck's engine was revved up and the wheels were still spinning as it sank into the dirt.
Gomez was quickly taken to Jackson Memorial ER-C, where police said he was pronounced dead due to cardiac arrest.
Two people were inside the home sleeping at the time, but were not hurt. Building inspectors ruled that the structure was unsafe and therefore inhabitable for the time being, police said.
