Car traveling in opposite lane causes Tamiami Trail head-on collision

FHP report says driver of Lexus tried to pass traffic in no-passing zone

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ A car traveling in the opposite lane caused Wednesday's head-on collision that killed three people along Tamiami Trail, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The collision occurred about 6:45 p.m. along Tamiami Trail, about 11 miles west of Krome Avenue.

Justin Rabago, 35, of Hollywood, was traveling east in his Lexus when he attempted to pass traffic in a no-passing zone.

The Lexus slammed into a Jeep traveling in the westbound lane, killing both drivers and the passenger in the Jeep.

Rabago's passenger, Glen Osceola, 33, was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition.

The victims in the Jeep haven't been identified.
