Carjacking, shooting victim now stable, family members say

Robert Nunez to undergo additional surgery

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Family members of a man who was carjacked and shot Saturday said the man is alert and talking.

Detectives said Robert Nunez pulled into the store at 16800 Northwest 47th Ave. in a 2001 to 2004 two-door light blue BMW convertible with a blue convertible top with Florida license tag CVWA13.

Police said Nunez talked briefly with a man before the man shot Nunez, took his keys and left in his BMW.

Surveillance video shows Nunez running to the store for help before falling to the ground.

"He said, kept saying, 'Call rescue, rescue,'" the store clerk said. "We saw that he got a gunshot from the left side of his stomach and it came out the right side."

Nunez's family said he is now out of the intensive care unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital, but he will have to undergo additional surgery.

Meanwhile, police continue searching for the gunman. He is described by police as a black man who is 22 to 25 years old with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a Skully, white shirt and black pants.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Miami-Dade at 305-471-TIPS.
