MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – She's a demure pop star who might not be recognizable at first glance, especially if you're over 25. Chances are, though, you'll know the song that made her famous last summer.

"Call Me Maybe" was Carly Rae Jepsen's pop hit that inspired good-natured parodies from brawny military men, svelte Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, snappy Florida International University students, and even Local 10's Will Manso.

A year after the song took off, Jepsen has been promoting a new single called Tonight I'm Getting Over You, touring around the country, and has been nominated for nine Billboard Music Awards, which will air on ABC May 19th.

On Friday, Jepsen performed at the landmark Fontainebleau Hotel as part of its BleauLive concert series.

Jepsen said although she hopes people will continue to listen to her new music, she knows "Call Me Maybe" helped her get her start.

"I think that every artist has that first introduction song that they need in order to be introduced in a big way," said Jepsen. "So, I am glad that it was the song 'Call Me Maybe,' because it does represent who I am. I do like a good joke, I like what's sweet and lighthearted."
