MIAMI – School bus operations appeared to have returned to normal Monday, following an organized "sick out" of employees Friday.
Superintendent Alberto Carvalho and other district officials spoke with leaders from the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) over the weekend to discuss the contract negotiations that sparked the anger among drivers.

According to a representative for the school district, the two sides "agreed that the priorities for both groups would be the safe, secure, timely transportation of school students and expediting collective bargaining efforts in the next few days to explore salary increases and the mitigation of health care insurance costs."
